Updates on Corona Virus

Published: March 13, 2020

Virginia Urology is committed to caring for you in a way that is safe for you, our staff, and the community.

We are carefully monitoring updates and guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and the Virginia Department of Health (VDH).

As you have likely heard on the news, Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) was first identified in Wuhan, Hubei Province, China. Coronaviruses cause respiratory illnesses, ranging from the common cold to pneumonia. The virus can spread from person to person. Symptoms include fever, cough, and shortness of breath.

We have instructed our staff to remain at home if they have traveled to any of the countries with CDC health travel notices within the last 14 days.

What to do about your appointment if you have COVID-19, symptoms of COVID-19, or recently traveled to an area where COVID-19 is known to be prevalent:

Please call 804-330-9105 or send a message through our secure patient portal to possibly reschedule your appointment. You will not be charged a no-show fee if you call to reschedule your appointment. Your primary care doctor, an emergency department or urgent care facility are better equipped to provide you with care specific to COVID-19. Routine care can wait until after you’re feeling better and symptom- free for 14 days.

To reduce your risk of any infection, we recommend the same precautions as those for avoiding the common cold and flu:

  • Wash your hands often with soap and warm water for at least 20 seconds.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, or mouth with unwashed hands.
  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick.

Rest assured that Virginia Urology is closely monitoring any guidelines from the CDC and VDH.

Please call us at 804-330-9105 with any questions or send a secure message through our patient portal.

To better serve our patients have  a new secure patient portal hosted by Intelichart.

You will receive an email invite to create an account in the new patient portal with Intelichart. The invite will come from: no-reply@patientportal.net
