Position Statement on Mesh Midurethral Slings (MUS) for Stress Urinary Incontinence

Published: February 12, 2014

The AUGS and SUFU have come out with a position statement on the use of mesh and mid urethral slings.

The midurethral sling is an option for the treatment of stress urinary incontinence (leakage of urine that occurs with coughing , sneezing or laughing). This is explained on our women’s health website.

Recently our professional organizations issued a joint statement in support of the use of mesh slings for the treatment of stress incontinence. Position Statement on Mesh Midurethral Slings (MUS) for Stress Urinary Incontinence.

At Virginia Urology for Women all the physicians who perform sling surgery for the treatment of stress incontinence agree with this statement.
